April 18 Congressman Hare Meeting

The Federal Grassroots Team for District 17 met with Congressman Phil Hare on April 18 at the Illinois AFL-CIO office in Springfield to discuss transportation needs in Illinois.  During the meeting, Congressman Hare indicated that Chairman Oberstar is planning to introduce a $500 billion infrastructure bill in January 2009 and Congressman Hare will sign on as a co-sponsor.   Hare pledged the assistance of his office in TFIC’s outreach efforts both in Illinois and when we visit in Washington D.C.  He also offered in response to a question that he is opposed to a temporary or permanent elimination of the federal motor fuel tax.

This event was coordinated as part of TFIC's federal grassroots outreach.  If you would like to get involved with the TFIC federal grassroots efforts, visit www.tficillinois.org/GetInvolved-FederalOutreach.htm for more information.
